Amount, category, done. The keypad opens on the amount and the category you used last is already picked, so the common case is a number and one tap. Attribute it to whoever spent it, add a note if it matters, or don't.

Nest Rent and Maintenance under Household and their spending rolls up into the parent's bar. One level deep, on purpose — a tree you can hold in your head. Budgets sit on the parent and report what's left; they never block a spend.
Rent doesn't need reminding.
Mark the rent, the EMI, the SIP, the salary as recurring and they post themselves on the day they fall due — expenses, earnings and investments alike. Come back after a month away and every missed period catches up in one sweep, dated correctly, in the right month.

Health insurance for twelve months, a domain for twenty-four — paid in one go, but used a month at a time. Enter the total and the length and Open Ledger posts an equal share into your category every month, back-filling the months that have already gone by and stopping itself after the last one.

Send one link — it works once and dies in thirty minutes. Whoever opens it signs in and is in your ledger, and still keeps their own. Everyone reads everything; each person edits what they added; the owner can fix anything. A filter shows who's spending what.

There is no analytics script, no ad SDK and no third-party pixel on this page or inside the app. The only outbound request Open Ledger ever makes is to Google, once, to check your sign-in token. That is the whole list.
The instance at ledger.xpertxyz.com is not encrypted at rest. Anyone with database access could read your entries. If that isn't OK for your household, self-host it — PHP 8.1, MySQL, one daily cron line, no build step.
Before you sign in
Is it really free?
Yes, and there's no paid tier to graduate to. It's open-source software running on a server that already existed.
Why only Google sign-in?
So there's no password to store, reset or leak. There's no signup form — you sign in and you're in your ledger.
Can I get my data out?
It's a plain MySQL database. Self-host and it never leaves your host in the first place.
Can I delete everything?
Yes, from the profile drawer — Delete my account. Your sign-in, every ledger you own with every entry in it, and your seat in anyone else's ledger are removed the moment you confirm. Nothing is retained.
Does it work without a connection?
Pages you've already opened keep opening, and anything you add while offline is saved on your phone and synced when the signal comes back. Sign-in and invites still need the network.
Does it do currencies other than rupees?
Each ledger has its own symbol, set by its owner — and its own digit grouping, ₹10,00,000 or ₹1,000,000. Lakh-crore is what it was built for.
Can my family see my personal ledger?
No. Each ledger is its own book with its own people. Sharing one of yours means sending a link that works once and expires in thirty minutes — nobody gets in any other way.
What isn't in it?
Bank sync, receipt scanning, splitting bills with people outside the house, and encryption at rest. It's a ledger you type into.
